Live at Bijouled
November 18, 2008
Hello!
Last Saturday, Looking Glass went to there lovely stockist, Bijouled in Harrogate to do a special ’live window’ to celebrate them winning ’favourite new business in Harrogate.’ Owners Georgina and Neville thought a great way to celebrate, would be to invite all there customers along to share the celebrations by having a glass of champagne and a cup cake.
Georgina said “were delighted to have been chosen to have won ‘ favourite new business in Harrogate’ and we are looking forward to building on our success in the future.” Georgina was happy that Looking Glass wanted to do something special to match the occassion and plus we had time to look at Georgina’s amazing shop and purchase ‘a few of my favourite things’!!!
Here are a few pictures if you missed the event………..

Tips on how to Declutter your Wardrobe
November 5, 2008
Hello Ladies,
Hope you are all well? Welcome to my very first blog. I am so happy to have joined the Looking Glass team and I am going to bring you interesting and exciting news from Looking Glass and around the globe.
First up: Tips on how to declutter your wardrobe, now with the revoution that is ‘fashion recycling’, don’t be afraid to get out your ’singer’ machine. You can make wonderful things from your old clothes, just recently I took an old top and made it into a skirt. I was quite pleased with myself, until I realised I hadn’t sewn it quite right and it ended up fitting my neice better, who is ten. Hee! Hee! Oh well!
Below is my tips to a perfect wardrobe transformation………..
1, Go through your wardrobe and put it in to sections – spring/summer and autumn/winter. Be honest with yourself, if you wont wear it and it can’t be recycled then pass it on…… (friend, charity shop, fashion designers)
2, Sentimental? – Share the love – it will be become someone else’s good luck charm. (Friends/family/charity shop)
3, Hold a ‘fashion exchange’ party, where you swap shop your clothes, I went to one last summer and picked up some fantastic little items that I would not have necessarily found in the shops. Please check out this fantastic website www.fashionexchange.co.uk it is run by a very good friend of mine, and you may well pick up a bargin or two!!!
4, Make it a fun experience, this is about ‘you’ be inventive and create a new you, from the old you. Fashion is meant to be fun and experimental! Enjoy the experience and tell your friends to do the same. You will feel like a new woman afterwards. Then go and treat yourself to a new little number from www.lookingglassstore.com
5, ‘One person’s rubbish is another person’s treasure’
Have fun and let us know how you get on…….If you want to share please email info@lookingglassstore.com
Best Wishes!

Make your own cup cakes
November 5, 2008

FAST VANILLA CUPCAKES
Makes 12
A simple recipe to top with icing and decorations. Vary the flavour at your fancy…..
Preheat the oven to 170C/325F/gas mark 3. Line a 12-hole cupcake tin with paper cases.
In the food processor or a tabletop mixer, beat the butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla until smooth.
Turn off the motor and add the flour. With the pulse button, or brief bursts of the beater, mix the flour in, stopping as soon as it is blended.
Divide the mixture between the paper cases.
Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden and springy to the touch.
Happy Cooking!!!
